Split Chickpeas / Chana Dal Sabzi Recipe

Ingredients

  • Split chickpeas / Chana Dal (1 cup)
  • Tomato (1 piece)
  • Onion (2 pieces)
  • Ginger (1/2 inch piece)
  • Garlic (4 to 5 cloves)
  • Coriander leaves (few branches)
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • Chili powder (2 teaspoon)
  • Coriander powder (2 tea spoon)
  • Asafoetida (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Garam masala (1 teaspoon)
  • Cumin seeds (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Mustard seeds (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Curry leaves (5 to 6 leaves)

Instructions

  1. Wash and pressure cook Chana Dal till 4 whistles.
  2. Make paste of ginger and garlic.
  3. Finely chop onion and tomatoes.
  4. Heat oil in the pan and add asafoetida, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and sizzle.
  5. Add chopped onion and ginger-garlic paste and saute till onion becomes transparent.
  6. Add chopped tomatoes and saute till it releases oil or seems to be cooked.
  7. Add boiled Chana Dal and saute till all ingredients mix together.It will probably take 1 to 2 minutes. After that switch off flame.
  8. Chana Dal Sabzi is ready.

Notes

it would taste yummy, if served with onion and lemon.
