Lauki ka Halwa Recipe

Ingredients

  • Bottle Gourd / Lauki (400 grams)
  • Milk (2 cups)
  • Sugar (1 1/2 cup)
  • Cardamom powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Green food colour (1/6 teaspoon)
  • Ghee (5 teaspoons)
  • Almonds (5 to 6 pieces)
  • Cashew nuts (5 to 6 pieces)
  • Raisins (8 to 10 pieces)

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate bottle gourd/ lauki and roughly chop almonds and cashew nuts.
  2. Dilute green food colour in one or two spoons of milk.
  3. Heat Ghee in the thick pan and add grated bottle gourd and keep stirring for 3 to 4 minutes till bottle gourd gets properly cooked.
  4. Add milk and stir until Lauki is cooked properly and milk gets evaporated and mixture becomes little thick, it will probably take 7 to 8 minutes.
  5. Add sugar, almonds, cashew nuts, raisins and keep stirring until sugar is melted and the liquid gets absorbed. It will take 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Add green food color diluted in milk and stir for at least a minute.
  7. Add cardamom powder and switch off the flame.
  8. Bottle gourd/ Lauki ka Halwa is now ready to be served.

Notes

Lauki ka Halwa can be served hot or you can serve it chilled as well.
