Chhole Chana Sabzi Recipe – How to cook Chhole Masala Sabzi at your home

Mouth Watering Chhole SabziChhole Chana are from the family of pulses food. It is popular Punjabi Saag as you all know.

My hubby loves all the pulses food. Be it Mung, Red Chana, he loves them all. So these are the most common Sabzis you will find at my home on day to day basis.


Chhole Chana offers good nutritious value. Personally I think they are really heavy to digest. One should need to do some effort if want to digest them quickly.It is really very very healthy.

Chhole Chana Sabzi Recipe

Chhole Chana Sabzi Recipe

Ingredients

  • White Chhole Chana (1 cup)
  • Onion (2 pieces)
  • Garlic (6 to 7 cloves)
  • Tomato (1 piece)
  • Ginger (1 inch piece)
  • Turmeric powder (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Black Mustard Seeds (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Green Chilies (1 piece)
  • Curry Leaves (6 to 7 pieces)
  • Chili Powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Cumin Seeds (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Coriander Powder (2 teaspoons)
  • Salt (2 teaspoons)
  • Coriander Leaves (couple of branches)
  • Oil (4 teaspoons )
  • Chhole Masala (1 teaspoon)
  • Asafoetida (Hing) (1/4 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Soak Chana for 5 to 6 hours in 3 cups of water.
  2. Chop Onion, Garlic, Ginger and Green Chilies and make smooth paste in mixer.
  3. Make smooth paste of Tomato in mixer.
  4. Boil soaked up Chana with 2-3 cups of water and 1 spoon of salt in pressure cooker till 3 to 4 whistles.
  5. Take a pan and heat oil on a medium flame.
  6. Add Asafoetida.
  7. Put gravy with Onion, Garlic, Ginger and Green chilies in the pan.
  8. Saute till it becomes light pink in color.
  9. Add Tomato gravy in the mix. Saute it for 2 to 3 minutes.
  10. Add Chili Powder, Coriander Powder, Salt, Turmeric powder, Chhole Masala. Stir and mix till all the ingredients are mixed properly.
  11. Add boiled Chana in the pan.
  12. Saute it for at least 4 minutes.
  13. When the Sabzi mix looks prepared switch off the flame and garnish it with coriander leaves.
  14. Sabzi is ready now.

  • When the Sabzi mix looks prepared switch off the flame and garnish it with coriander leaves.Your healthier and tasty Chhole Masala Sabzi is ready to eat and serve.
  • It can be enjoyed with Puri, Paratha, Bhature and Roti.
